Wenonah Aurora, Kevlar -used

We designed the Aurora for exploring lakes, rivers and streams, for day trips or much longer. The Aurora is simply a more compact version of our acclaimed Spirit II, with all its virtues, except a foot shorter in length, which makes it more practical for a paddling pair than a full brood.  This also makes Aurora much more maneuverable for the solo paddler. We carefully contoured the hull of the Aurora, so it paddles very easily and performs reliably in wind and waves.  Aurora has extra volume in both the center and toward the ends, so it maintains ample freeboard when loaded.  A great canoe for family vacations, or any canoe tripping adventures on lakes or rivers. Our most versatile 16ft canoe has outstanding stability, superb agility and plenty of seaworthiness.  Aurora travels distances easily yet turns extremely well. It's predictable in rapids, and on rough open waters, too. It's big enough for trips. It's also very stable. At 16' long, it strikes a good balance between the efficiency of a longer hull and the maneuvering of a shorter one. The Aurora is safe and roomy, too, having capacity for medium trips. With two good sized adults it floats high in the water, leaving lots of reserve buoyancy for gear. Fully loaded Aurora becomes more stable yet still handles well, even on waves. At 16ft the Aurora is a great option for the occasional solo paddler.  If you face the other way on the bow seat you will be not too far from center in most conditions.  In windy conditions you may want to adjust gear.  OR add a Coghlans water jug to the forward end for better balance. (You can also ask us to add a center seat or kneeling thwart to this canoe for even more versatile solo paddling.) Our comfortable SuperSeats are easily added to the existing seats, these provide a padded seat and supportive backrest while you paddle.  SuperSeats can face either direction, and they are quickly removed for cartopping.Go paddling for the day OR for a weekend.  Go as a couple OR solo.Paddle the ponds, lakes, creeks, and rivers...Your new Wenonah Aurora is so light and compact for day use but long enough for tripping. Wenonah is known for efficient canoes.  Quite often our customers are surprised how easily this canoe moves thru the water. Most other 16ft canoes are not nearly as efficient.  Aurora availability:   Weight* Kevlar Ultra-light 39 lbs. Carbon Kevlar Ultra-light 39 lbs. Kevlar Flex-core 46 lbs.
